We’re Keen to Go Green and Our Mission Continues!
- New reception roof to improve heat retention
- New wildlife improvements – and no pesticides or herbicides used
- Planted 250 spring bulbs for pollinators
- Extended herb garden for most used herbs
- Approx. 1,000 wildflower seeds
- Introduced Sustainable Stays – Guests offset the carbon footprint for meal/function/accommodation
- Our Charity Quizzes and Bingo have gone eco, with 3 trees planted for every event
- Introduced light bulb electrical consumption charts to encourage staff to turn lights off at the hotel and at home!
- Changed spices for Fairtrade/ethical alternative
- Reduced ingredients containing palm oil
- Grow our own fruit for our homemade pies and apple sauc
- Solar Panels
- Many local and Welsh suppliers/producers, including food, cheese, coffee, spirits, ales, milk, meat and more
- New, more eco-friendly heating system and boiler
- New bat and owl-friendly outdoor lighting
- Improved recycling – New bins inside and outside and introduced new procedures and practices
- Reduced single-use plastic or re-use wherever possible
- Wines from eco-friendly vineyards
- Replaced a roof to conserve heat
- Improved heating zoning and controls
- Keep Wales Tidy Litter Hub
- Reduced paper usage
- Menus created with sustainability, sourcing, carbon footprint and cooking methods in mind
- Grow our own fruit for our homemade pies and crumbles
- Started garden improvements for wildlife, and no pesticides or herbicides used
- New, more eco-friendly kitchen appliances – 2 fridges, 1 freezer, 3 fat fryers, 1 dishwasher, 2 microwaves
- Motion-sensor lighting now fitted in all places possible and lightbulbs replaced with LEDs
- All staff completed Environmental Awareness training
- Grow many of our most-used herbs and planted more rosemary, sage, parsley and thyme
- Grow fresh mint for one of our refreshing signature cocktails!
- Cooking oil recycled and usage decreased
- Improved guest signage to encourage eco-stays
- Compost all food waste
- Changing key ingredients and brands for options with good environmental ethics, e.g. carbon neutral, no palm oil/sustainable palm oil
- Customers can choose to reduce the carbon footprint of their stay/meal/celebration
